day retreat

The Wild Wanderer is our signature day retreat. A day dedicated to reconnecting to the landscape of your body and reconnecting to the wilderness in the stunning Brecon Beacons National Park. We begin our day together at Ty Yoga studio in Brecon town for a morning practice of delicious breathwork, energizing flow, and nourishing relaxation. Then, we feast together, enjoying a plant-based lunch packed full of vibrant veggies and wholesome grains. Our afternoon takes us to the foot of Pen y Fan, where we will explore the wild of the Brecon Beacons. Slowly, gently winding our way up to the mythical lake of Llyn Cwm Llwch (pictured above) which is tucked just beneath the summit of Corn Du. Those who wish can take a chilly dip into the legendary glacial lake before we make our way home feeling restored and reenergized by nature.

what people are saying

The most magical day you could ever imagine! A combination of so many wonderful things: yoga, delicious food, time in nature hiking in spectacular scenery, wild swimming, getting to spend time with lovely people, and sharing a great experience together. Cat made this day so special and fun. The retreat was put together with so much thought and it was a perfect balance. I left the day feeling like I was on cloud 9. I can’t wait to join in on another Retreat and Rewild adventure. Thank you Cat for the best day.

I had a wonderful day with Cat on the Wild Wanderer day retreat – it was the perfect mix of yoga, hiking & cold water swimming. Cat has a natural ability to put everyone at ease & the whole day was friendly, relaxing & invigorating in equal measure.

  • You’re welcome to bring your own yoga mat and blanket/props if you have them. Alternatively, Ty Yoga studio has a supply of mats and props which you can borrow.
  • Please bring your own crockery and cutlery – plate/bowl/knife/fork/spoon/mug - for our plant-based feast as the studio does not provide this. Let me know if you would like me to bring spares for you.
  • For the hike you will need a rucksack, water bottle, sensible walking shoes/boots, waterproof layers, and warm layers (including hat/gloves). I have a few walking rucksacks I am happy to lend out, just let me know if you would like to borrow one.
  • For the cold-water dip, please bring your swimmers, a towel/robie, and make sure you have enough warm layers to put on after. The dip is optional but encouraged!
  • You may also want to bring a flask as we can make hot tea at the studio to take with us for our afternoon walk and swim.

The most important thing is to wear something you're comfortable in and something that allows you to move for yoga, and be warm enough when hiking. Leggings or joggers tend to be the bread and butter clothing of choice in our own yoga practice, but we have been known to opt for the Lucy&Yak dungas from time to time! As we will also be hiking, you may wish to bring a pair of walking trousers to change into for the afternoon.

Yes! You don't need to have done any yoga before to come and join in on a retreat. I love introducing people to this practice. If you exercise on a semi-regular basis, you will most likely be comfortable during a yoga class. When I teach, I adjust and accommodate my teaching to the room, giving as many options and modifications as needed to support your practice.

You don't need to have grown up running up mountains to come and enjoy the hiking element of our retreat. We will walk at the pace of the group and although the terrain does get steep at points there is no rush and we can take rests. It's all about experiencing the outdoors and immersing in the nature around us.
